Antonia Freisburger’s work explores the limits of human understanding — the invisible structures of matter, the origins of life, and the boundaries of perception. She paints what cannot be seen: quantum states, cosmic systems, and possible forms of life beyond imagination. Her works hover between science and emotion, life and matter, creating a visual language that connects curiosity with uncertainty. Through painting, she transforms the unknown into a space of contemplation, where not knowing becomes a quiet form of belief.
Antonia Freisburger lives and works in Düsseldorf. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Düsseldorf under Professor Andreas Schulze, where she received the Meisterschülerin (degree with destinction) in 2018. In 2017, she co-founded and curated the exhibition space sonneundsolche in Düsseldorf, active until 2023. Her work has been shown at various institutions like Kunstpalast Düsseldorf, KIT – Kunst im Tunnel, K21 Art Collection North-Rhine-Westphalia and international galleries and art Fairs. She has received the Neustart Kultur Grant from Stiftung Kunstfonds (2022) as well as a Scholarship for a cultural exchange residency at Organhaus in Chongqing, China (2025).
