Hang Over Shanghai recontextualizes contemporary art by suspending it directly into the social fabric of the city. More than an exhibition, it is a state of "hovering", a momentary pause above the frantic rhythm of urban life to spark new energy and imagination.
The project operates at the intersection of three movements: hanging art into the urban fabric, hanging out within the social framework of the community, and hanging over the city’s pace to find a state of imaginative suspension.
By stripping away the traditional boundaries of the gallery, we transform the city’s texture into a decentralized, shared experience. This is a hyper-creative crossover, where the acts of seeing, enjoying, and dealing art are no longer confined to white walls, but are instead discovered while wandering the streets during Shanghai’s most electric art season. Following its acclaimed debut in 2025 with nine international galleries, the 2026 edition returns to a new location with an expanded roster and a more diverse program.
